Turns out the other chrysalis was still hard at work! I thought it was a goner because it never changed color. The chrysalises are supposed to get darker, but the second one never did so I figured it died in there. Here is a photo Abe the Ever Helpful took of the first butterfly after we noticed it hatched. Hatched? Emerged.
